On September 22, 2024, the Hengshui Lake Marathon and the National Marathon Championships (Stage 2) kicked off at the Hengshui Lake Marathon Plaza in Hebei. ERKE is

This marathon is particularly noteworthy as it marks the first gathering of elite marathon runners after the Paris Olympics and is the first national marathon championship of 

the fall season.

Hengshui, located in southeastern Hebei, is at a strategic crossroads known as the "Golden Cross" by renowned sociologist Fei Xiaotong. Hengshui Lake, a national nature 

reserve, features a complete wetland ecosystem, earning it the title of "the most beautiful wetland in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region."
Since its inception in 2012, the Hengshui Lake Marathon has been recognized as a World Athletics Gold Label event and became part of the Chinese Marathon Championship series in 2014. The race starts and finishes at the Hengshui Lake Marathon Plaza, featuring an average elevation of 22 meters and only 10 turns, allowing runners to achieve 

their personal bests.

The event includes two categories: the marathon, with 10,000 participants, and a 5 km health run, also with 10,000 participants. Competitors come from 26 countries and 

regions, including China, Ethiopia, Kenya, Germany, the UK, and Canada.
